Welcoming a New Era for the Boy Scouts of America with Roger A. Krone

Roger A. Krone, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Boy Scouts of America

Dear NESA Members,

Exciting news has emerged from the heart of the Boy Scouts of America, and we are delighted to share it with you, our esteemed National Eagle Scout Association members.

The BSA National Executive Board has made a historic decision, appointing Eagle Scout Roger A. Krone as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Krone’s passion for Scouting, coupled with his extensive leadership experience, makes this an exhilarating moment for our organization.

In his own words, Mr. Krone expressed his enthusiasm for this new role, saying, “As a life-long Scout, the opportunity to lead the Scouting movement represents the perfect capstone to a long and fruitful career and a chance to give back. The program was a big part of my life and the lives of my children. I want to make sure every child has an opportunity to have that same amazing experience.”

Krone’s professional background is equally remarkable. He recently retired as the Chairman and CEO of Leidos, a Fortune 250 government technology solutions firm with a $15 billion revenue, where his leadership nearly tripled revenue and doubled the workforce during his nine-year tenure. Before that, he held key leadership roles at leading aerospace companies, including serving as President of Network and Space Systems at Boeing.

Brad Tilden, the BSA’s National Chair, has shared his thoughts on this appointment: “Roger Krone has spent his entire career transforming complex businesses and preparing them for what lies ahead. His experience, combined with his personal passion for Scouting, will enable him to look at a familiar organization in new ways and find innovative approaches to welcoming more youth into the adventure of Scouting. Our movement could not be more excited to welcome him as our new leader.”

As Eagle Scouts, we understand the dedication and hard work it takes to achieve this prestigious rank. We also appreciate the immense value of the Scouting experience for leaders who are ready to tackle challenges, inspire others, and drive success. With Roger Krone at the helm, we have a fellow Eagle Scout who embodies these qualities.

Join us in extending a warm welcome to Roger Krone as he embarks on this incredible journey to lead the greatest youth-serving organization in America into a bright and promising future. Let us stand united in support of this new chapter in Scouting.

Yours in Scouting,

Richard Pfaltzgraff, President National Eagle Scout Association

Frank D. Tsuru, Immediate Past President National Eagle Scout Association
