NESA Members Honored with Silver Antelopes & Buffaloes

This week, the BSA announced the recipients of the 2023 Silver Buffalo and Silver Antelope awards in an article by Aaron on Scouting. These prestigious awards, part of the Silver Family of BSA awards, recognize outstanding Scouters for their exceptional efforts. The Silver Family includes the council-level Silver Beaver, territory-level Silver Antelope, and national-level Silver Buffalo awards. The tradition of the Silver Buffalo Award dates back to 1925, while the Silver Antelope Award was established in 1942.

Among the fourteen Silver Buffalos awarded in 2023, nine recipients are Eagle Scouts, as mentioned in the article. Notably, since 2020, over forty Silver Buffalos have been bestowed upon individuals who had previously achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, accounting for more than 70% of all recipients. Additionally, the 2023 Silver Antelope class consists of eighteen Eagle Scouts. Furthermore, this year’s class of Antelopes and Buffalos highlights the remarkable accomplishments of twelve NESA Outstanding Eagle Scouts, three Distinguished Eagle Scouts, and three recipients of NESA’s Distinguished Service Award.

The following 2023 recipients have been identified as NESA Lifetime members. Are you an Eagle Scout, or do you know an Eagle considering a Lifetime Membership in NESA?
