Joe started his scouting journey as a youth member of Troop 380 in Hampstead, Maryland. After graduating from college, he joined the Baltimore Area Council as a Scouting professional. In the role of Scoutreach District Executive, he provided critical support to at-risk youth in Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland. As a result of his exceptional work, Joe was honored with the National President’s Award for Multicultural Markets in 2010. He also held positions as a District Director and Camp Director and served as the staff advisor to the Council’s Advancement, Camping, and Jamboree committees.
Most recently, Joe served as the Director of Development for Thread Inc., a 20-year-old nonprofit organization based in Baltimore. He also spent six years as the Assistant Director of Development at the University of Maryland, where he received his BA and MS degrees.

Joe earned his Wood Badge beads in 2016 and is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. He served on the National Camping School staff and is the immediate past President of the Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation Alumni Association.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Joe is an avid golfer and a sports fan (Orioles, Capitals, Terrapins). He plays ice hockey and enjoys outdoor adventures and travel. He resides in Laurel, Maryland, with his wife Melissa, a dedicated educator in Howard County Public Schools.
