Bruce has been an active scouter for over 60 years serving in many leadership roles and positions on local, regional, territory and national levels.  He entered scouting in 1963, where he earned his Arrow of Light in 1967 and his Eagle Scout Badge in 1971.  Bruce has attended, and led crews to all 4 of BSA’s High Adventure Bases and attended the 13thWorld Scout Jamboree in Japan in 1971.  His first National Jamboree was as a Contingent Leader for a local troop in 1973 at Moraine State Park in Pennsylvania.  He has gone on to serve on staff at the last 12 National Jamborees and was on the Jamboree Service Team for the 2019 World Jamboree held at the Bechtel Summit Reserve in West Virginia.

Bruce has served as a Cubmaster, a Scoutmaster and an Explorer Post Advisor.  He served on his local council Executive Board for 22 years and chaired the council National Jamboree Committee in 1997.  He has also served locally on the Order of the Arrow Lodge Executive Committee for over 30 years, Chaired his council’s NCAP committee, Chaired the council Exploring Committee and has served on the council NESA Committee for the last 10 years as Vice President of Special Events.

More recently, Bruce’s scouting involvement has extended beyond the local council level.  He has served on the NESA Eagle Scout Scholarship Selection Committee for the past 9 years   He currently serves as a National Vice President of NESA, leading the effort to re-launch the NESA Store and also serves on the BSA Alumni Association National Committee with the responsibility of Coordinator of Alumni Support for the 71 BSA councils in the Central Territories.  He serves the Zone 4 NCAP Team as an assessor trainer and Assistant Zone Coordinator.

Among the many awards and recognitions that Bruce has received during his service to scouting include, Central Territories Alumnus of the Year Award, Silver Beaver Award, St. George Award for Catholic Scouting, District Award of Merit, NESA Outstanding Eagle Award, Scoutmaster Award of Merit, Order of the Arrow Founders Award and James E. West Fellow Award.  Bruce has two Eagle Scout sons and two grandchildren who are involved in Scouting America programs.
