Mac is an Eagle Scout who earned the award in Troop 477 of Florence, South Carolina. He served on council summer camp staff at Camp Coker for eight years and has held numerous volunteer roles in the Pee Dee Area Council, the Indian Waters Council, and the Blue Ridge Council. He served as Area President for Southern Region Area 5 in 2015-2017 and served for a number of years as an OA Section Adviser. He has been recognized with several awards for service to Scouting, including the District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, the NESA Distinguished Service Award, and the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.
Outside of Scouting, Mac is a tax and business attorney at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. in Greenville, South Carolina, where he has been appointed a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law by the South Carolina Supreme Court. He is married with two children.
